Welcome to the Cumberland County Association for Indian People (CCAIP)

We are a community-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting and empowering the Indian People of Cumberland County, NC. Since 1972, we have been committed to fostering self-determination and self-sufficiency among our community members, helping them thrive socially, economically, legally, and politically.

Our Mission

The mission of the Cumberland County Association for Indian People is to enhance the socio-economic development and overall well-being of the Indian People of Cumberland County. By creating opportunities and delivering essential services, we aim to strengthen our community’s capacity for growth and success while maintaining the rich cultural traditions that define us.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Cumberland County Association for Indian People (CCAIP) shall be to enhance the self-determination and self-sufficiency of the Indian people of Cumberland County; specifically, as it relates to the socio-economic, legal, political, and overall well being of community members.

The CCAIP, through various initiatives, also supports the planning and delivery of services by utilizing local, state, and national networking resources in the following areas of community empowerment:

  • Education: Providing resources and opportunities to support academic success and lifelong learning.
  • Native American Arts and Crafts: Preserving and celebrating the artistic heritage of our people.
  • Cultural Enrichment: Offering programs and events that deepen cultural understanding and pride.
  • Job Referral Services and Employment Training: Connecting individuals with opportunities to advance their careers and skills.
  • Economic Development: Encouraging initiatives that strengthen financial independence and community growth.
  • Housing and Health Needs: Addressing essential needs to ensure a higher quality of life for our community members.

Our Leadership

At CCAIP, we are proud to have a Board of Directors composed entirely of Native Americans who bring diverse backgrounds and expertise to support the achievements of the Indian People in our region. Guided by their leadership, our organization works tirelessly to honor our heritage, preserve our culture, and address the evolving needs of our community.

For over 50 years, CCAIP has been a steadfast advocate for the Indian People of Cumberland County. By utilizing local, state, and national networking resources, we continue to bridge gaps, create opportunities, and ensure the sustainability of our community for generations to come.
